About
Medical trauma refers to the psychological and physiological response to a negative experience in a medical setting. The experience may involve illness, injury, pain, invasive or frightening procedures, and/or distressing or dismissive medical treatment. Sometimes this treatment is subtle, sometimes it's overt, but rarely is it given voice.

Sometimes even routine checkups can be re-traumatizing, leading to anxiety, avoidance, or delay of care.

Medical providers and healthcare workers also suffer the effects of working within a system that causes inadvertent harm.

Whether you are a patient, a friend or family member supporting a patient, or a medical provider, we hope that our work offers you nourishment for a more wholesome experience.
